United Airlines is facing a lawsuit over the engine failure during a recent flight!
If you recall, last month the airline made headlines when the right engine caught on fire shortly after takeoff on a flight going from Denver to Honolulu.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, but dramatic footage from the event shows a terrifying view of the engine on fire from the passengers’ perspective, as well as major damage to homes on the ground.
The flight, on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft, took place on February 20th. Shortly after the plane left the ground, the right engine became visibly damaged in flight.

The vessel had 241 people onboard, including 231 passengers and 10 crew members. Can you imagine how scared they must have been to look out the window and see that sight!
Thankfully, the pilots were able to safely land the Boeing jet on the ground in just under 20 minutes–but not several items of debris fell from the sky and into neighborhoods in the suburbs of Denver.

One piece of debris even went through the roof of local house there, landing just feet away from where the occupant was making himself a sandwich. So scary!

Now the airline faces a class action lawsuit “seeking to recover for negligent infliction of emotional distress on behalf of himself and all other passengers onboard who faced a similar situation,” according to One Mile At A Time and court papers. We’ll keep an eye on this story as it progresses!
