Tech Experts Agree: This Is The One ‘Unnecessary’ App That’s Eating Up All Your Storage

When it comes to your iPhone, every gigabyte of storage is precious. That’s because the apps that you use can really take up a ton of storage space, especially those that are resource-intensive like social media apps. But there’s a good chance your phone is also cluttered with quite a few apps that aren’t necessary. These apps include those you downloaded ages ago and never use, as well as redundant apps that you perhaps downloaded in curiosity, but find yourself rarely needing to rely on. One of the best ways to free up storage fast is by deleting apps that are consuming storage without giving much back in return.

Tech Expert Johan Alexander, CEO of APKCima, says this one “unnecessary” app consumed a huge percentage of storage and can be deleted to overcome iPhone storage issues.

Redundant Photo Editing Apps

Apple is enjoying a sole reputation in the global market offering a high resolution of cameras and also enabling its iPhone users to take pictures to memorize previous life moments and also to use it in professionally as well, Alexander notes. However, this also means that many users install photo editing apps to make their pictures more worthy, but at the same time, these photo editing apps consume storage space.

The question is: do you really need five different photo editing apps just because one offers a few more filters than another or has a slightly different interface?

“Consider keeping the one you use most and delete the rest,” Alexander says. “Doing so can save you around 100MB to 300MB of storage per app, depending on its size.”

While you are deleting redundant photo editing apps, consider deleting a few more that take up storage space.

Unused Gaming Apps

“It is the most common thing that every iPhone user faces user sometimes installs a lot of gaming apps to consume leisure time,” Alexander notes. “However, it has been noticed that certain users even don’t remember how many gaming apps are installed on their phones. Therefore, these gaming apps consume significant storage due to their graphics and content. If you rarely use a gaming app or have completed the game, deleting it can free up substantial storage. On average, deleting an unused gaming app can reclaim 500MB to 1GB of storage.”

Unused Social Media Apps

As previously mentioned, social media apps are often resource-intensive and take up storage for that reasons. “We often install various social media apps such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Snapchat, WeChat, TikTok, and more but end up using only a few regularly,” Alexander says. “Identify the ones you hardly use and remove them. Deleting a less-used social media app can free up approximately 100MB to 200MB of storage.”

Unnecessary Productivity Apps

Productivity apps can be helpful, but if you have several that serve the same purpose, it's time to declutter, according to Alexander. “Removing redundant productivity apps can save you around 50MB to 150MB per app, depending on their complexity,” he shares.

“By removing these "useless" apps, you can create significant room for essential data, media, and apps that truly matter to you, Alexander says, noting that altogether you may be able to save us much as 2GB to 3GB of storage space. “Optimizing your iPhone's storage will improve performance and ensure a seamless user experience.”
