Dua Lipa, Addison Rae, Kendall Jenner, and Kourtney Kardashian were among the first to bring the somewhat controversial and initially confusing trend into our lives and onto our feeds last year. But now, we have trend-setters like Sydney Sweeney and Elsa Hosk to thank for the increasing popularity of the super-seductive swimwear trend; and the ladies have proven that it is here to stay!
The 24-year-old Euphoria star wore a black Palm Swimwear 'Viper' bikini top in a fun and sexy picture she shared to her Instagram, while the 33-year-old former Victoria's Secret model made a case for the bikini trend by pouring her curves into a Barbie pink Sommer Swim 'Xena Profumo' halter bikini top, which she kindly also shared to her social media on April 20th.
Among the many approving comments from Elsa's fans was a comment from the minimalistic luxe swimwear brand itself, which wrote, "You look amazing in our bikini," followed by a red heart emoji. We couldn’t agree more! Oh, and we love Elsa's contrasting crochet Orchard & Ito bucket hat too!
For anyone who is still a little confused about what the trend actually is (don’t worry, you're not alone) the look essentially involves positioning the gathered part of the bikini top, which usually sits under the breasts, at the sides instead, creating a sort of upside-down effect. It's got nothing to do with Stranger Things, and is just a fun new way to experiment with fashion. Who knew that wearing something a different way than originally intended would be *so* hot?!
