Chris Rock just revealed he contracted a breakthrough case of COVID-19 – despite being fully vaccinated!

The 56-year-old comedian took to social media to tell his followers that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and then urged them to get vaccinated if they haven’t already.

“Hey guys I just found out I have COVID, trust me you don’t want this. Get vaccinated,” he wrote on Twitter on Sunday September 19.

Although he didn’t go into any further details about his COVID battle, unlike some of the other A-listers who had contracted the virus, and hasn’t posted on Twitter since, the Grown Ups actor has been very open from the start about his faith in the vaccine. Back in May, while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the comedian not only confirmed that he had been vaccinated, but even told everyone the type of vaccine he received himself.

“I’m vaccinated. I’m two shots Rock. That’s what they call me,” he said at the time, before joking that he used his “celebrity” status to skip the line and get vaccinated as quickly as possible.

“I got Johnson & Johnson,” he confirmed, which actually contradicts his original “two shots Rock” joke, as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only requires one dose to be fully effective. Still, he continued to jest that he did everything he could to ensure he received the vaccine as quickly as he could.

"I didn't care. I used my celebrity. I didn't care," he continued, at the time. "I was like, 'Hey, step aside, Betty White'. I was like Billy Zane on the Titanic. Leo died, Billy Zane lived to see another day. I don't wanna be Leo at the bottom of the ocean!"

This isn’t the first time the Everybody Hates Chris star has spoken openly about the vaccine, and just how seriously he is taking the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in January, he spoke with Gayle King on CBS Sunday Morning about his desire to receive the vaccine when it became available, despite not being 100% aware of everything that could be in it. It's a stark contrast from Nicki Minaj's stance, as the rapper has caused controversy over her comments about her vaccine hesitancy.

Rock said: "I’m gonna put it this way – do I take Tylenol when I get a headache? Yes. Do I know what’s in Tylenol? I don’t know what’s in Tylenol, Gayle. I just know my headache is gone. Do I know what’s in a Big Mac, Gayle? No. I just know it’s delicious."

We hope the Emmy winner's symptoms won't be as bad as they would have been without a vaccine, and wish him a very speedy recovery!
