Changing your diet can have a huge impact on your skin, especially if you are concerned with signs of aging. Sagging skin, one of the most dreaded indicators of growing older, is just one insecurity that can be addressed through your diet, both the foods you eat and the beverages you drink. Not only will poor dietary choices reflect in your appearance, but smart ones will as well. In other words, changing your diet could lead to a more youthful complexion, complete with plump and bouncy skin.

Foods with Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an excellent nutrient to add to your diet, especially if you have concerns about aging skin. Dr. Purvisha Patel, MD, founder of Visha Skincare, tells SheFinds, "Citrus fruits and dark green vegetables are high in vitamin C an important part of the collagen production cycle."

"Vitamin C helps lysine and proline form collagen and is also a potent antioxidant that prevents free radicles from breaking down collagen and elastin," Dr. Patel adds.

tangerine

Dr. Manish Shah, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in Denver, Colorado, specifically suggests tangerines in particular for a boost of vitamin C and skin-tightening benefits. "Tangerines have small amounts of selenium and zinc, which aid in the creation of elastin in the body," Dr. Shah explains.

Beyond improving skin texture, your diet can also help reduce breakouts and make skin glow – and vitamin C is a crucial part of that. "If you are looking to achieve clear, glowing and blemish-free skin, make sure citrus fruits such as lemons, limes or grapefruits are part of your daily diet and beauty routine," Dr. Roshini Raj, gastroenterologist and founder of TULA skincare, advises StyleCaster.

"Citrus fruits are a rich natural source of vitamin C, which helps destroy free radicals in your body while providing a radiant glow to your skin and rejuvenating skin from the inside," Dr. Raj continues.

peppers

Citrus fruits are probably what you first think of when it comes to dietary sources of vitamin C, but there are plenty of others. Peppers, strawberries, and even broccoli can also be valuable sources of vitamin C that can help tighten your skin, while also helping it stay clear and luminous.
