With inflation on the rise, even the cheapest fast food joints like McDonald’s and stores known for great prices like Walmart have been charging an alarming amount for items in recent months. While eggs are perhaps the most notable example, nearly every kitchen staple has seen a price increase—and that’s not even accounting for the way Walmart was recently reportedly racking up prices even more at the register.
But it looks like there’s good news on the horizon; some Walmart shoppers on Reddit are reporting lower prices on items at certain locations, including freshly-baked bread, which has now dropped back down to a dollar. Hallelujah!

Reddit user reports Walmart bakery freshly-baked bread has dropped to $1
You can get just about anything at Walmart, from essential home goods to all of your grocery needs—and that includes some tasty bread from the Walmart bakery. Luckily, one Reddit user recently alerted fellow shoppers in the "Frugal" subreddit that this beloved item has dropped in price.
"Walmart freshly-baked bread is back to a dollar!" wrote user GeekyGrannyTexas, attaching a photo of a loaf of Sliced Plain French Bread beside a loaf of Sliced Italian Bread. And, yes, both show prices of $1.00.
Many commenters were ecstatic about the news, noting that the prices of a few other items have gone down in price as well. "I have actually noticed some prices starting to drop," one wrote. "I think supermarkets realised people wont be paying these crazy prices."
Those of us who like to cook with chicken may also be in luck. "Not sure about other places but our chicken is coming down a little at a time. I just got 10 pounds of chicken leg quarter for $4.79!" another user commented. "Now if they would just drop the price of breasts and eggs!"
However, some prices continue to be a little too high for everyone's liking. One commenter wondered: "When is mayo going to drop from $3.58 back to $1.94? :("
Regardless, this seems to be a good sign for anyone who's been breaking the bank due to grocery prices. While $1.00 bread might not solve all of our money problems, it's certainly a step in the right direction. Our fingers will stay crossed until eggs no longer cost a fortune!
