With Covid-19 in mind, Walmart has made some serious changes to its return policy. Unfortunately, customers are not happy with the retailer for these updated policies.
According to ABC7, customers reached out to report this new change and how disappointed they were to learn about it. One wrote, “I went to Walmart to return 5 tops that I purchased on 4/17. Each top has the tag attached & I have the receipt. I was informed that they aren’t returning apparel items along with almost half the other departments.”

Walmart made changes to their return policy with the safety of customers and employees in mind.
The company's statement reads: "We are temporarily not processing returns/exchanges in our stores of: Food, Paper Goods, Home Cleaning Supplies, Laundry Soap, Pharmacy, Health & Beauty and Apparel."
The statement also encourages to check the status of their return online before coming into a store.
It continues, "If you need to return any item, including those above, and have a receipt, please start the return on the Walmart app or at Walmart.com. It's easy and may allow you to complete your return without coming to the store. If you're not able to return the item online, don't worry! Once returns reopen for impacted categories, we will be extending the return period by 6 weeks for those items."
Walmart is not the only retailer to change their return policy. Many other retailers, including Target, have decided to take similar measures in changing their return policies.
This is not the only Walmart policy to have a recent update. They also have recently implemented a mandatory mask policy for customers (though it's still unclear how strictly this will be enforced).
