Gigi Hadid has kept pretty quiet about her pregnancy since confirming the news in late April. The model is expecting her first child with longtime beau Zayn Malik, confirming the rumors on an interview with Jimmy Fallon.
At the time, the model told Fallon that the couple was “very excited and happy.” She explained, “Obviously, we wish they could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well-wishes and support.
Since then, however, she has stayed quiet about her pregnancy until a recent Instagram Live, when the supermodel shared a shot of her baby bump!
Gigi first started speaking out about her baby bump when answering a fan over Instagram who asked the 25-year-old, “How do you not have a tummy?”
Hadid quickly responded, "This angle and the really baggy jumpsuit make for an optical illusion." She continued, "From the side it's a different story!"
However, news outlets quickly took her words out of context, and one Twitter article did a write up on the commentary, titled "Gigi Hadid Reveals How She Disguises Her Pregnancy."
The model did not appreciate the wording. She tweeted, "Disguise ... ? I said in a baggy jumpsuit the front and side views are visually different stories — not that that was intentional or I was trying to hide anything."
She continued, "Will be proud and happy to share 'insight' when I feel like it, thanks."
The model later tweeted, defending her decision to maintain her privacy, "For now I am proudly experiencing and sharing this time with my family and loved ones."
Considering how the decision to make the pregnancy public was taken away from the parents-to-be, as Gigi mentioned to Jimmy Fallon, her being protective over her pregnancy now makes complete sense.
One thing's for sure: Gigi is not trying to disguise anything--especially not how her body is changing with her pregnancy.
On Instagram Live, the model explained how her face was changing too: "I have the cheeks already, so it's like there's not a lot to, like, fill in. Don't worry. I'm happy with the natural process of the world."
