McDonald’s, a global fast-food giant, is renowned for its convenience, affordability, and iconic menu offerings. From classic burgers and fries to an array of breakfast options, McDonald’s has maintained its popularity worldwide. However, navigating the menu can sometimes lead to choices high in calories, saturated fats, and sodium. Fortunately, savvy diners have discovered ingenious ordering hacks that allow them to enjoy their favorites while significantly reducing their caloric intake.
These clever strategies not only help in saving money but also offer healthier alternatives, making dining at McDonald’s a guilt-free experience.
TikTok creator and weight loss coach Amber (amber_c_fitness), who boasts 849K followers on the app, shared how to make a simple swap at this fast food restaurant in order to save big on calories and continue your weight loss plans.
“So, let’s say you want a Big Mac meal. You get a Big Mac, a large fry, and a large coke to drink. That comes to 1,340 calories. Now, let’s take that same meal and make a couple simple swaps and save around 600 calories,” she says.
Her hack is to “still get the Big Mac meal, [but] we’re going to get a small fry, and we’re going to swap the regular coke for a diet coke.” This cuts back the calories a good chunk, as she reveals, “Now, you have a meal that is 770 calories.”
She adds that “just by making those simple swaps, you’re saving [roughly] 600 calories. And, if you’re ordering the Big Mac meal, chances are you’re getting that because you really want the Big Mac,” and this simple hack is a great way to still indulge in the burger while cutting off calories from the side and the beverage.
She underscores that opting for a large fry or coke isn’t necessarily wrong, but rather a means to indulge in one’s cravings without the guilt associated with consuming excessive calories.
This clever approach not only promotes healthier eating habits but also empowers individuals to make informed choices when dining out. With such strategies at hand, enjoying a meal at McDonald’s becomes not just a convenience, but also a step towards maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
