The Wendy's Frosty Is Shrinking
One Reddit user drew attention to this on the Wendy's subreddit: 'Did Wendy's change their Large size this year?" they asked. "I could've sworn last year, I purchased a Frosty that was at least 1/3 more than this." The poster even included a picture with a plastic spoon for size comparison; shockingly, the spoon is even taller than the Frosty.
Commenters from all over jumped in to confirm that, yes, Frosty sizes are shrinking right before our very eyes. One user, who claimed to be a certified corporate Wendy's manager, wrote: "Can confirm US locations sometime between March and May made a switch on their small, medium, and large fountain drinks." Apparently, this switch changed a 20 oz small to a 19 oz, a 32 oz medium to a 27 oz, and a 40 oz large to a 35 oz. Talk about shrinkage! "The large Frosty cup uses a small fountain drink cup which is 1 oz smaller than it was 2 years ago when I started," they explained.
One person claimed that this is 5 oz smaller than large Frosties were back in 2016. "In 2016 it was 24 oz," they wrote. "Not a new change. Just ongoing."
The user claiming to be a Wendy's manager pointed out that this size change is "not the biggest or even most significant change," noting that the franchise has also removed 20 and 50 piece nuggets from most of their locations, and a small Frosty, small fries, small drinks, and 4 piece nuggets are "all over twice the price they were 2 years ago." Say it ain't so!
"It's shrinkflation," one user commented. We suppose this is just something we'll have to get used to—maybe we'll have to dish out the extra bucks for a medium Frosty next time.
