The Duchess of Sussex turned 39 recently. Even though Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no longer senior members of the royal family, they are still family. Queen Elizabeth sent her granddaughter-in-law a heartfelt birthday wish from across the pond.

The birthday wish was posted on the official Royal Family Instagram account. A photo of choice was of Markle and the Queen on their first joint royal engagement. The post was captioned:: 'Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!

The birthday wishes continued with a special message from brother- and sister-in-law, Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Birthday wishes also came from Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. Tensions within the royal family seemed to be finally coming to an end.

The birthday wishes are in stark contrast to the details revealed in Finding Freedom, the bombshell non-official account of Meghan and Harry's time in England. The book has been causing an uproar in the royal family. The book was written by two former royal correspondents, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durant.  The book alleges that the relationship between the Sussexes and the Cambridges have been on a downward spiral since the moment Meghan became part of the family.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry both say they were not consulted or interviewed for the book. Nonetheless, the book paints a not so pretty picture of royal life in England. Hopefully, with all the birthday wishes, maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel.  The queen's birthday wishes to Meghan, as well as the wishes from the other family members, signal a united front in the family. Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family, released on August 11, 2020.
