If a tea existed that could stop aging or at least help with it, wouldn’t you want to drink it? Well, we might know just what that magic tea is. And, ok, it might not be magic but some of the health benefits it offers are pretty magical.
We asked a nutritionist which tea you need to be drinking to get the best the anti-aging benefits and you won’t want to miss a sip.
We asked Lisa Richards, nutritionist and author of The Candida Diet and she let us in on the wonders of turmeric tea. You might have tried te=he spice in a recipe or two, but it is even better in tea form.
Richards shared, "Turmeric is a natural and effective anti-inflammatory compound. This characteristic makes it effective in reducing chronic pain, mitigating joint pain, and helping to improve the quality of life for individuals with various forms of arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. Turmeric makes a delicious tea with these added benefits."
In addition to being anti-inflammatory and helping with chronic pain (already amazing standalone benefits), turmeric has even more to offer.
Richards added, "Turmeric is also known for its antioxidant potential. This characteristic enables it to fight free radicals and remove toxins from the body. Free radicals can damage our body's cells leading to various chronic conditions, including cancer. In this way turmeric can be effective in preventing or mitigating many of these illnesses." Is there anything turmeric can't do?
So while turmeric is great to consume no matter which way you choose, Richards says drinking it as a tea is an easy way to reap all the benefits in sippable form. One cup of turmeric tea contains approximately 1 tsp of turmeric.
"Each teaspoon contains about 200 mg of turmeric and 400 to 600mg is considered a safe dose," Richards explains. And with this in mind, and the fact that turmeric is absorbed best during a fasted state drinking 2-3 cups a day is ideal, before each meal.
