10 Must See Winter Hair Colors:

1. Expensive Brunette

This TikTok-trendy term refers to glossy, healthy looking, and radiant brunette tresses that often have hints of warmer, caramel hues. As seen here on Hailey Bieber, this style, as Lordet explains, gives a lighter touch to darker hair and highlights your best features in the process. “We are seeing a warm winter trend this season,” Lordet says, adding, “instead of cool tones, more and more are opting for golden honey tones and caramel blonde, specifically for those with chocolate brown hair.” This look has become rather popular, he notes, because it “helps to make your complexion warmer, giving you a cozy feel during the colder months.”

2. Honeyed Red

All eyes were on Cara Delevingne when she stepped out at Paris Fashion Week with a rich honeyed, reddish hue this fall, and Mazzei believes that the color will continue to be trendy all throughout winter. He also urges that “every skin tone” can wear red with lighter strands like Delevingne, and that analyzing your skin tones and undertones can help you find the best shade.

3. Iced Mocha

Think of your favorite iced mocha drink and the many swirling, gorgeous hues within it. Now, imagine combining these colors together for a new ‘do that meets in the middle between dirty blonde and light brunette. As seen on Olivia Wilde, this iced mocha hue is a great change for winter and can still provide much-needed warmth to your look in the coldest time of the year. “Adding front pieces of gold tone can make the color look more defined rather than just a plain brown,” Tapia says.

4. Golden Beige

“Rich gold colors” can help “enhance your skin tone and undertones” in the winter, Tapia says, and there’s no denying that Gisele Bündchen’s golden beige look brings warmth and draws eyes to her features! By combining several shades of ashy blonde, you can also look more radiant with this not-too-light and not-too-dark choice if you’re already a natural blonde.

5. Dark Espresso

Camila Morrone’s shiny dark brown tresses remind us of a warm cup of espresso— without fully heading into raven black hair territory. This color (and Morrone’s face-framing, fringy cut) is perfect for winter as it can also help emphasize eyes and cheekbones and be a fun way for brunette gals to touch up their look.

7. Mulled Wine

Zendaya’s crimson red hue makes us think of spiced wine and red velvet, and the epic color they boast. As the weather gets even colder, this style can give a more edgy, gothic and grungy look to match the crisp air and longer nights of the winter season.

8. Flax Brown

Camila Cabello stunned viewers of The Voice with her new hair color recently, and we can’t get enough either! Often deemed ‘flax brown’ by professionals, this color combines cooler and warmer hues, and is something that both natural blondes and brunettes can easily rock by going a little lighter or darker.

9. Shadow Root Blonde

An ashy blonde look is always in for winter, and Gigi Hadid’s shadow root coloring style is timelessly chic. Her darker roots subtly and seamlessly blend into the rest of her lighter blonde hair without looking drastic and the coloring frames her face elegantly. We’re def saving this as blonde hair inspo!

10. Chestnut Brown

If you can’t decide between a brunette winter color or red, you don’t have to! Salma Hayek’s chestnut brown locks prove that you can combine both brown and reddish hues for winter, and even get an exquisite ombré edition, like she did.

The Bottom Line & Additional Pro Stylist Tips

Overall, if you’re looking to change your hair for the new year and want to emphasize your best features all winter long, Rivera recommends giving a new color a try. “Color is a terrific option for adding depth and dimension to fine hair,” she adds. Rivera also notes that a new hue can always “add texture to your hair, making it look fuller as well.”

She concludes that if you’re looking to give your locks a touch-up, it’s vital to “always consult with a professional regarding the appropriate products that will work best for your hair type.” (Noted!)
