McDonald's offers customers a tasty variety of options when it comes to their breakfast menu, but not everything on it is ideal for those who are watching their weight. In fact, health and fitness experts say that the chain's Steak, Egg & Cheese Biscuit is the worst sandwich you can order if you're watching your figure. Aside from being high in calories, the classic breakfast sandwich is also loaded with unhealthy fat, sodium and a bunch of other unhealthy ingredients...

The Steak, Egg & Cheese Biscuit combines McDonald's folded egg with grilled onions, a seasoned steak patty, and melted American cheese, which is all sandwiched between two breakfast biscuits that have been brushed with butter. This is undoubtedly a savory and delicious way to start off the day, but it's also filled with sodium and saturated fat! Seriously, it's got 1490 milligrams of sodium and 15 grams of saturated fat. Yikes!
"Like most of the sandwiches here, the Steak, Egg & Cheese Biscuit has more than half a day’s fat, but it ties for the highest amount of sodium of any main menu item," according to the editors at Eat This, Not That!

"Nutritionally speaking, McDonald's Steak, Egg & Cheese Biscuit is one of the worst things you can have for breakfast," New York-based registered dietitian Regina Fazzini tells SheFinds. "To start, it's loaded with fat and sodium, which aren't kind to your waistline, and it's 530 calories. Once you factor in all of the unhealthy ingredients from the biscuit, the toppings, the cheese and even the eggs, you could be doing some real damage to your diet."
If you're in a pinch for breakfast and need to pick something up from McDonald's, Fazzini recommends opting for an Egg McMuffin without the Canadian bacon. "Without bacon--and even the cheese--an Egg McMuffin can help you fuel your body with protein since it's made with a freshly-cracked egg. It shouldn't be eaten every day, but it's definitely a healthy option for a quick breakfast on-the-go," she adds.
Good to know! We'll definitely be avoiding the Steak, Egg & Cheese Biscuit at McDonald's from now on. Were you surprised to learn that the sandwich had that much sodium in it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
