It’s finally the weekend, which for many means cracking open a beer or de-corking a wine and pouring a big class to celebrate that you survived the week. But health experts warn that certain alcoholic drinks can seriously hinder your weight loss progress.

Think twice about chugging that next bottle of beer or sipping on that second glass of wine.
“Alcoholic beverages are often consumed in the evenings, but most should be avoided because of the impact on weight gain,” Lisa Richards, certified nutritional coach and creator of The Candida Diet, explains. Here’s why:
High-Sugar Content“Sugar-laden alcoholic beverages are a must to avoid in the evenings due to the added sugar and calories they contain,” Lisa explains.
“Alcohol converts into sugars that can offset many diet and macro plans,” Dr. Matt Chalmers, health and wellness expert, author and nutrition speaker, agrees. “It can also lead to a decrease in fat burning as the body looks at it as the most important chemical to break down.”
