The Worst Dunkin’ Drink Nutritionists Say You Should Never Order—It’s Over 900 Calories!

Where would any of us be without our go-to coffee order? Whether you prefer it black, with a bit of cream, or you like to go full-throttle with the sweet syrups and toppings, everyone has some sort of preference when they walk up the counter or pull up to the drive-thru. Unfortunately, though, some of those preferences could be taking a toll on your health. This is especially true when it comes to many of the sugar-loaded options at Dunkin’ (even if they are delicious). While treating yourself every now and then certainly won’t kill you, staying away from some of the more calorie-laden options offered by this beloved chain is a good idea if you’re trying to lose weight or just looking out for your health.

But what are the worst options, anyway? To find out, we spoke to nutritionist Lisa Richards, creator of the Candida Diet. Although there’s no shortage of drinks at Dunkin’ that may put you well over your sugar intake for the day, she said that the flavored Frozen Coffee with cream, in particular, is among the worst of the worst. Read on for her expert insight on the ramifications of this sweet but detrimental drink.

The main issue with Dunkin's frozen coffee, especially when you add in cream and flavored syrups (like mocha, French vanilla, caramel, and more), is the fact that it's loaded with calories and sugar.

"This indulgent beverage combines rich flavor with cream, resulting in a calorie bomb," Richards warns noting that "a large size can contain approximately 990 calories, contributing to excessive energy intake." Yikes!

It shouldn't be surprising that excessive sugar intake comes with a range of health risks, including weight gain. Richards tells us that a flavored frozen coffee from Dunkin' "tends to have a high sugar content, which can lead to blood sugar spikes and crashes, negatively affecting energy levels and overall health." That's definitely not a great way to start your morning.

Overall, she warns that "Regular consumption of such a drink can contribute to weight gain, increased risk of chronic diseases, and an unhealthy relationship with sugary beverages."

Whether you're trying to shed a few pounds or just want to stay as healthy as possible, she recommends "Choosing lower-calorie, less-sweetened alternatives." Got it!

Keep in mind, though, that you don't have to order your coffee from a chain like this one to face these health risks; adding inflammatory ingredients to your own coffee at home can also set you up for the same fate. All in all, opting for less sweetener (or natural options) and taking your coffee black whenever possible is the best way to go.
