Peel-Off Masks
Although peel-off masks are a popular way to try to unclog your pores, they can sometimes be too harsh--especially if you have sensitive skin that irritates easily.
Jessica Weiser, MD, a New York City dermatologist at New York Dermatology Group, explains to Well And Good, "I avoid peel-off masks that contain any glue-based adhesive because they are pulling away beyond the dead skin cells at the surface and can cause significant damage to the skin."
With this in mind, although peel-off masks might seem like a good idea, it's probably be best to stay away.
Specifically, peel-off masks have the unfortunate habit of drying your skin out, which can lead to discoloration and other skin problems.
Staying away from intense exfoliators can also be a good idea to keep your skin looking its best. Although it's smart to exfoliate once in awhile, regularly using a exfoliating face mask can do more harm than good, leading to inflammation and sensitivity.
