Going through menopause is hard enough as it is. Your body is going through a lot of changes, and even more so if you're trying to lose weight. Menopause is actually linked to weight gain, and gaining weight during this time can lead to heart disease. That's why it's so important to focus on getting proper nutrition. Luckily, there are tips and research on foods you should avoid after menopause for weight loss.

Turns out, you should avoid eating salty snacks after menopause. On top of helping you to lose weight, saying "no" to foods loaded with salt will also help you to maintain healthy blood pressure levels and keep bones strong.
While it stands for a healthy diet at any age, you should especially watch your carb intake after menopause. Janine Kyrillos, MD, says women are more sensitive to carbohydrates after menopause, which can cause your body to store some extra fat. So, pass up on that bread serving before dinner.
University of Pittsburgh researchers found that women who went through menopause were successful in long term weight loss when they cut back on cheese in their diets. Researchers say that other foods you should avoid include fried foods and meats.
