Having trouble keeping your breath minty fresh? It might have to do with what you’re eating! The food you eat can actually have a huge influence on your breath, and there are many of them that can make your mouth smell foul. Dr. Harold Katz recommends staying away from these foods to prevent smelly breath.

Peanuts
Peanuts Peanuts are known to cause your breath to smell. According to Dr. Katz, this is due to “multiple odor components” that peanuts contain, such as acetic acid and methanethiol. These components can stain your palate and cause “peanut breath.”
Cheese

Cheese is notorious for making breath stink! It is known to have pungent odors, and that smell can linger in your mouth for a long time. If you have somewhere important to be, avoid eating cheese to keep your mouth smell-free and clean.

Tuna According to Dr. Katz, tuna is a major cause of halitosis, a condition that causes bad breath. Tuna contains a bunch of smell-inducing molecules that can make your breath smell horrible! If you insist on eating a tuna sandwich for lunch, make sure you have some mouthwash and a toothbrush in hand to avoid stinky breath.
Kombucha Kombucha can do some terrible things to your breath, according to Dr. Katz. It’s a drink made literally from bacteria and yeast that’s been fermenting in a warm glass for at least a month. This drink smells terrible as it is, so it will obviously stink up your breath for a few hours. Dr. Katz even said that there is evidence of kombucha relating to bad breath, as well as upset stomachs and infections!
