Everyone wants thick, pretty hair, but unfortunately, most of us weren’t so lucky in that department. There are tons of hair products and tools out there that all have the same promise: beautiful, healthy hair. But, many of these products fall short or actually do major damage to your hair.

No matter how many times professionals advise air drying and letting your hair flow naturally, we just can’t help but find the need to style with heating products to give our hair a sleek, salon-styled look. I don’t think I could ever survive without a straightener, but I’m fully aware that getting the wrong heated hair tool can make my hair a brittle mess!
Don’t know which products will fry your hair to a burnt monster? There’s one product that your hair should never touch again unless you're into the burnt-to-a-crisp look. Believe me, you’ll definitely see a difference in the texture of your hair once you put this tool in the trash.
Curling irons are the worst possible tool for your hair, according to hairstylist Anna Jackson. “Heat rapidly dries out hair, and if your hair is already colored or just naturally dry, then you will have to trim your hair more often and use masque conditioners to help keep the moisture in,” she told StyleCaster. “Hot tools can also make hair look crispy and create split ends if overused."
So, give your hair a break from your curling iron! Jackson recommends using your curling iron once or twice a week at most. Also, making an investment in a more high-quality curler can make the biggest difference to your hair. Cheap tools can fry your hair since the materials they’re made with aren’t nearly as good as higher quality curlers. Heat protector spray for your hair is also a great product to have and will help lower the risk of heat damage to your hair.
