Slow metabolisms are terrible to deal with and can lead to excessive weight gain. What you eat is definitely correlated to the speed of your metabolism, so eat right!
What you start your day off eating usually sets the tone for how healthy the rest of the day is going to go. So chances are, if you’re having a fat-filled breakfast, you’re going to end up eating crappy foods for lunch and dinner (not to mention snacking in-between!).
What you drink is just as important as what you eat, so make healthy choices to start your day off and avoid the following drinks that are slowing your metabolism!

Coffee
Although it’s been proven that having a cup of coffee is good for your metabolism, sipping on coffee-laced drinks that are filled to the brim with sugar and milk are definitely not good for your digestive system.
Also, according to Mark Hyman, MD, coffee just suppresses cravings, causing you to eat more once you get the chance. Also, Dr. Hyman says that many studies prove coffee dependency’s link to Type 2 diabetes!
Fruit juice
Fruit juice is probably one of the worst drinks in the world for your diet. It contains ridiculously high amounts of sugar that are guaranteed to make your metabolism slow down, according to Dr. Josh Axe. “Fruit juice – including most apple, orange and grape juice – is basically chemically laden sugar water,” Dr. Axe said. “I know something like apple juice sounds healthy, but some manufacturers turn apples into juice by adding in sugar, food coloring and flavorings. That is the apple juice you buy today.” One glass of orange juice contains more sugar than soda, yikes!
Milk
Pasteurized milk is actually not doing any good to your body, according to the Weston A. Price Foundation. The process of pasteurization is basically heating up the milk until all of the bacteria dies out. In theory that seems like a good idea, but all of the healthy bacteria and nutrients from milk are harmed and get stripped away during this process. Due to this, milk can actually cause inflammation, leading to a slower metabolism, weight gain, fatigue, and even bad skin!
Fruit smoothies
A fruit smoothie seems like a healthy option, but not when it comes with sugar, milk, and ice cream. If made wrong, smoothies are basically just crushed fruit doused in fat and sugar. To make that smoothie better for your metabolism, try cutting out added sugar since most fruits already have high levels of natural sugar. Also, make sure you use fat-free yogurt instead of full-fat milk or ice cream since yogurt contains probiotics that are actually very beneficial to your metabolism!
