The misconception is that eating something small and sweet is good for weight loss and weight maintenance. I see people grabbing that little Danish, muffin, scone with their cup of joe when they are on the run to their job.
The fact is, you are basically waking your body up with just plain old sugar which cause the body to secrete insulin. But if you do it consistently and often enough, you are basically training your body to eventually store sugar. Also, the sugar is in the form of simple carbohydrates found in these items and the more you eat, the more you would want; which are all things going against weight loss.
Here is my recommendation. Start your day strong with good lean proteins containing all your amino acids such as a good ole egg or two or a protein bar that focuses on good essential fatty acids. This way, you are making your body work for the fuel it needs.
Also, for those who feels the need to add the sugar and creamer to their coffee, that is also something you want to reconsider because it is similar to eating something with a lot of sugar. There are a lot of creamer alternatives out there that has coconut oil/ medium chain triglycerides which serve to help you feel more satisfied throughout the morning.
