Despite its widespread use in commercial cooking and processed foods, palm oil has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease. For this reason, it's best to limit your intake as much as possible and choose healthier alternatives when cooking your meats.

Despite its recent popularity as a health trend, Nanavati cautions against using coconut oil regularly when cooking your meats. "It is high in saturated fats," she sates, noting that "Excessive intake can lead to an increase in LDL cholesterol, posing a risk to heart health." Consider using coconut oil sparingly and choosing other options like the ones below whenever possible.

Luckily, there are plenty of healthy oils to choose from. For starters, Nanavati suggests olive oil, which is packed with benefits. Renowned for its rich monounsaturated fats and antioxidants, she suggests that "olive oil can help lower the risk of heart disease when used in moderation."

Next up, she recommends adding avocado oil to your diet. Boasting a high smoke point and abundant monounsaturated fats, Nanavati notes, "Avocado oil is ideal for cooking and can contribute to improved heart health." Plus, it's delicious. Perfect!
