Apple has a strict policy of not guaranteeing it will cover your iPhone issues if it is discovered you have used a non-Apple cable or charger. You may think that’s because they are protecting their bottom line, and that certainly can be the case. But there’s more behind their policy: far too many (cheaper) off-brand accessories have caused damage to iPhones for them to want to take that chance.
It’s really tempting to try to save money by buying a cheaper off-brand charger for your iPhone. But experts say it’s not worth it in the long run.
“Cheaper chargers don’t necessarily have the standards in place to fill your phone constantly with the correct voltage,” Brad Nichols, technician with technology repair service company Staymobile, told Reader’s Digest. “The fluctuation of voltage can damage the charger port, and even damage your battery.”

If you can wait, or are searching for an iPhone portable battery that you can keep for a long time and that won’t damage your phone, check out these options on Apple’s website. Yes, they will probably run you more than a random charger you can find on Amazon, but when you consider the investment you’ve already made in your way, paying a little more is well worth it.
