Reese Witherspoon is drawing ire from the staff of Quibi for receiving a *substantial* payout from the mobile platform for her participation in the show “Fierce Queens”–all-the-while the company is being forced to do layoffs because the show didn’t hit benchmarks, according to reports.
The staff at the Jeffrey Katzenberg-founded content company are allegedly “seething” over a $6M payday Reese received for her flop show. Yikes!

In case you missed it, the TV platform features Witherspoon's voice on the feminist show “Fierce Queens." It sounds AMAZING--the premise is, “Imagine a world where females call all the shots,"--but Page Six is reporting that the show underperformed for the channel, and that employees are not happy.
"Quibi may have to implement cutbacks, and people are fuming that stars like Reese got paid millions,” the paper reports.

And what's worst is that there might be some nepotism at play; Page Six points out that Reese's husband Jim Toth is the head of content acquisition and talent for the company, which might have helped her get such a good gig.
Reese's hubby of eight years left his big gig at CAA after 23 years to work at Katzenberg’s startup, and despite more people streaming content during quarantine, Quibi's short-form content just hasn't taken off.

Quibi reportedly cut overtime for its lowest-level staffers and let go of others after the app fell out of Apple's Top 200 apps. The company has plenty of funding--$1.7 billion to be exact--so why are they pissing off workers?
A rep for Witherspoon did not respond to the Post's requests for comment. We shall see what happens!
