You Might Want To Sit Down Before Hearing This McDonald’s Menu Change–WHAT Is Happening!

McDonald’s is working on a secret chicken project!

The fast food chain’s CEO just revealed to Time that the company is focusing on an “upgrade” to their chicken offering in the U.S., presumably in response to the chicken sandwich war that was brought on by Popeyes in 2019. This is great news for people who don’t eat meet!

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski told the magazine that there is a shift happening from beef to chicken, and they are doing everything they can to keep up.

“We’re certainly working on ways that we can update and upgrade our chicken offering in the U.S. Suffice to say we will continue to be competing and innovating in chicken,” Kempczinski told the publication. “I don’t want to get too into revealing competitive secrets, but I think we are feeling good about where we’re at.” OMG!

If you recall, the viral chicken sandwich wars began when Popeyes fanatics raved about how their New Orleans-style fried chicken on a bun, available mild or spicy, was better than Chick-fil-A's sandwich.

Soon it was an all-out fast food brawl, with McDonald's McChicken and a Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich in the mix, as well as KFC's new double-breaded chicken sandwich, and others.

Kempczinski announced to investors that the food chain will add new items to its menu before the end of the year. WHAT!

Sadly, Kempczinski stopped just short of confirming exactly what the new item will be or when customers can expect to see it on the menu. The ingredients and timelines for the sought-after chicken creation are not known as of press time, USA Today points out. But we're dying for more details!

"I do know that there is innovation that is planned for later this year that's going to bring some menu items on," he teased.
