Celebrities are flocking to Instagram to connect with fans during the coronavirus, but some stars’ attempts at trying to be relatable with their following miss the mark. Justin Bieber is the latest celebrity to catch some backlash due to his comments during a recent Instagram Live.
Bieber and his wife Hailey Baldwin chatted with their friend Kendall Jenner via Instagram Live on April 10 to catch up during social distancing. Remarks about their lavish lifestyles while social distancing aren’t resonating with fans and have outed as being tone-deaf.
The A-List trio talked about how blessed they are to quarantine in their lavish homes while people everywhere are experiencing hardship during the pandemic.
According to TODAY, the “Yummy” singer asked Jenner how she likes living at home while they chatted on Instagram Live.
“Oh my God it’s literally my favorite place on the planet,” Jenner said. “I worked for so long to get it to the point it’s at. I renovated it for like a year.”
Bieber took a moment to reflect on his own gratitude for having an easy lifestyle in his luxurious home that he shares with Baldwin.
“How blessed are we? A lot of people obviously in this time have a crappy situation,” Bieber said during the Instagram Live. “They look at us and obviously we worked hard for where we’re at so we can’t feel bad for the things that we have but I think us taking that time to acknowledge that there are people who are crippling is important. We send our love and support to them.”
Luckily, Bieber has since moved on from the Instagram Live to use his privilege for good by helping others during the pandemic crisis.
As reported by Billboard, Bieber joined fellow Canadian celebrity Drake for the Stronger Together television and radio special to support and raise money for Food Banks Canada during the coronavirus pandemic on April 26. How amazing is that?!
