Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in some hot water over their handling of their new charity rollout amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed the name of the organization–Archewell–just as their native U.K.’s own Prime Minister Boris Johnson was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Some felt that it was an insensitive time for the high-profile couple to take their new endeavor public.
But before you judge, it turns out that The Telegraph had uncovered documents that were filed in order to launch the charity and planned to out the couple. To preempt the story, Harry and Meghan released the name and meaning of the charity on their own terms. Can you blame them?

They even clarified in the statement that their focus remains on COVID-19 relief.
“Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be,” their statement read.
“We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters.”
They explained the name and gave some context about why they chose it. (Archie, 11 months, is their son).
“Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right.”
