Just when you thought that guac being extra was bad, Chipotle announced that they are rising *all* their prices!

The California-based Mexican food chain just revealed that they are increasing menu prices across the board to keep up with rising employee wages.

An American corporation prioritizing workers wages?! I know, our jaws hit the ground, too.

Last month the company announced that it would be upping its average hourly wage to workers to $15 by June. The new starting pay for workers will be $11-$18 per hour (versus the average wage previously which was $13).

“It made sense in this scenario to invest in our employees and get these restaurants staffed and make sure that we have the pipeline of people to support our growth,” CEO Brian Niccol said at a conference.

So, what does it mean for your order?

The popular burrito and salad spot raised prices up to 4%; so this may mean just a quarter or dime increase on your bill.

Prices vary depending on where you live; in New York City, a chicken burrito costs $9.50, while In Fort Lauderdale it costs $7.65. Seems like a small price to pay for living wages for your fellow citizens!
