Zac Efron was hospitalized last weekend after a “swimming incident,” and while he has been since released, fans are still worried about what happened to him. The High School Musical actor was vacationing in Ibiza when the incident occurred, an island in Spain known for its wild parties, leaving many fans wondering what really happened. Here’s everything we know:

Zac Efron Is Hospitalized in Ibiza

The Iron Claw star, 36, was at a villa in Ibiza on August 2nd when he experienced a "minor swimming incident" and was subsequently admitted to a hospital overnight for "precautionary measures," according to his spokesperson.

Other unnamed sources said that "his chest hit the bottom of the pool" and he "ingested lots of water into his lungs." Two individuals employed by the villa were the ones to pull him out of the pool after he showed signs of distress, and he was reportedly "dazed momentarily."

The actor was released the following morning on August 3rd after having X-rays of his chest done to ensure there was no water in his lungs. At the time, his rep said, "He is fine." Efron himself referenced the incident with a post to his Instagram story, posting a photo of himself lifting weights while lying across an exercise ball with the caption: "happy and healthy - thanks for the well wishes".

Fans Send Well Wishes to Zac Efron

Fans were pretty shaken up by Zac's sudden hospitalization and took to social media to share their well wishes and concerns for the actor. "Sounds like he is very lucky," one person wrote in a comment on a TikTok about the incident. "The timing was on his side. He could've gone the way of Matthew Perry," they continued, referencing the Friends actor who tragically passed away this year.

"So dragged out, then treated?" one person asked. "Sounds like heat exhaustion. Hope he's okay."

"In Ibiza? Doesn't take genius to figure out what happened," another user wrote. "He was probably on drugs."

"Too much fun in Ibiza," another agreed, "I bet drugs or alcohol is the culprit."

"Might've just had a small heatstroke they can be scary," another suggested. "But if treated early he should be okay."

"Whatever happened, I hope he's okay!" a final fan posted.
