Zac Efron‘s recent appearance on Entertainment Weekly‘s cover shoot for his upcoming movie, The Iron Claw, had fans taken aback. Playing the role of professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich in the A24 biopic, Efron, 36, dedicated himself to getting into shape for the part, as he also recently revealed in an interview with Men’s Health.
However, it was not his chiseled physique that grabbed people’s attention. When behind-the-scenes clips of the shoot circulated on Instagram, viewers were shocked by Efron’s almost “unrecognizable” appearance, with one person even suggesting he had undergone plastic surgery and joking that the surgeon responsible should be incarcerated.

During an interview with People Magazine in September 2022, Efron actually discussed the plastic surgery rumors that had been circulating and explained that in 2013 he did indeed suffer from a broken jaw, which resulted in the enlargement of his facial and jaw muscles. “They just got really, really big,” the 17 Again alum said at the time.

Despite the Greatest Showman star’s efforts to dismiss concerns, some fans remain unconvinced that Efron’s appearance isn’t a result of unsuccessful plastic surgery procedures. These individuals continue to express their doubts and opinions on social media along with clips and photos of the actor in scenes from The Iron Claw and pics of him on the red carpet promoting it.
