Zach Galifianakis Credits Giving Up Alcohol With Losing Weight
The Due Date actor and comedian first addressed his weight loss back in 2013 during a candid interview with Conan O'Brien. The late-night talk show host told the What Happens in Vegas actor that he looked "fantastic" during the show, after which he explained how giving up alcohol had helped him tremendously in his weight loss journey.
"I stopped drinking and I just, kind of, put the weight off," Galifianakis confessed, adding: "I was having a lot of vodka with sausage. Delicious, but bad for you."
He addressed how quitting drinking (as so many A-listers who have slimmed down have confessed to doing!) helped him lose weight a few more times over the years, including on the red carpet while promoting Birdman.
"I started walking a bunch and gave up booze. Booze, I was done with it. I couldn't wake up [like usual], so I stopped," Galifianakis said at the time, before going on to say that he considered himself "lucky" that he could stop as easily as he could, even though he still missed it.
"I'm lucky that I could just stop, but boy I miss it," the Little Fish, Strange Pond star candidly said. "But being light's fun," he continued, adding: "I can go up two flights of steps now and only need my inhaler twice!"
Zach Galifianakis Also Changed His Diet To Lose Weight
What else has the Zach Galifianakis Live at the Purple Onion comedian said about his weight loss transformation? "I've had a lot of plastic surgery," he joked in an interview with Conan O'Brien in 2016, before revealing in his usual light-hearted way how he had changed his diet drastically.
"I tend not to eat food advertised on television," he joked. "Fast food you can't do. You have to eat whole grains, and that kind of stuff. And you have to cut out whipped cream pizzas," he added.
