Zendaya Pays Tribute To ‘Euphoria’ In A Pink Babydoll Dress And Thigh High-Boots For Her Surprise Coachella Performance

Zendaya marked her return to music in a show-stopping ensemble. On Saturday, April 22nd, the actress, singer, and producer (what can’t she do?) unexpectedly joined Labrinth on stage at Coachella to perform two songs from the Euphoria soundtrack. The duet was Zendaya’s first live musical act in over seven years. She released a self-titled album in 2013 but has since focused more on acting. The duo sang “I’m Tired,” which Zendaya co-wrote, and “All of Us.” For the performance, Zendaya channeled Euphoria‘s iconic Y2K aesthetic in a rosy pink babydoll that she paired with chunky, heeled thigh-high boots.
We all know that Zendaya is an icon of our times. While she first started acting on Disney shows like Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover, Zendaya quickly showed that she has the range. From indie films like Malcolm & Marie, to action movies such as Spider-Man (where she met her beau Tom Holland!) and Dune, to edgy teen dramas like Euphoria, Zendaya can excel in just about any role. And she’s got the awards to prove it. The actress-slash-singer has won a total of 34 awards and has been nominated for over 95 awards.
Zendaya has also long been considered a style icon. Master-minded by now-retired image architect and celeb stylist Law Roach, Zendaya’s style is impeccably flawless and high glam. When Zendaya steps out on the red carpet, sits front row at fashion shows, or even just wears something for Instagram, it’s always showstopping. From slaying two jaw-dropping gowns at the 2023 NAACP Awards to turning heads in a sparkling violet sari with a gold-leaf bralette to the NMACC Gala, Zendaya is always major fashion goals. The actress has also been named the face of multiple fashion brands and campaigns. Zendaya even won the Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).
And now, Zendaya’s Coachella ensemble proves she’s still a fashion trailblazer! Her outfit was a departure from her normal polished style. She opted for a pink, empire line babydoll dress with a ruffled skirt trimmed in satin. The dress, which is a vintage early 2000’s Roberto Cavalli dress, featured a lace-trimmed bodice that tied at the bust. Zenday layered her Barbiecore pink dress over a ribbed white tank top. As for glam, she abandoned her bob and wore her hair loose with her natural curls parted down the middle. She also chose to go for a Euphoria-esque makeup complete with plenty of glittery and highlight. Zendaya accessorized with hoop earrings, silver chunky rings, and a pair of black, lace-up heeled Christian Louboutin boots that reached her thigh. She previously wore these boots at a Fendi event in New York City.
Let’s face it: we will unfortunately not be seeing the third season of Euphoria anytime soon. But, Zendaya’s Coachella outfit and performance is definitely holding us over until the next season. Plus, is it just us or does this super-feminine, bubblegum pop princess outfit look like something Jules would wear in Euphoria?
After the performance, Zendaya thanked the audience for their support on her Instagram story. “I cannot express my gratitude enough for this magical night. Thank you to my brother @labrinth for inviting me and giving me the most beautiful safe space to be on a stage again,” she raved. “And to the crowd tonight…wow… my heart is so full, I can’t thank you enough for the love I received tonight, made all my nerves melt away, I’m so grateful.”
“I just wanted to say thank you again for such a magical, beautiful night. Thank you to Lab for inviting me and making all this happen so last minute,” she gushed. Zendaya was also still in disbelief at how excited the crowd was for her appearance. “I have never heard screaming like that in my entire life, as soon as I turned the corner, I couldn’t hear anything but you guys. I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what I sounded like, but I was just like, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna have fun.'”
While Zendaya hasn’t posted photos of her Coachella outfit yet, fan accounts were quick to post photos and videos of her performance on their socials. Fans were completely surprised by her appearance at the festival and they loved her Y2K outfit. “SHE ATEEE SO BAD,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “She gave us a huge surprise and I love that!” A third chimed in with, “She changed lives!” and another commenter wrote that she, “saved Coachella!”
“ZENDAYA ON STAGE???? IM DEAD NOW,” and “SHE OWNED THE STAGE,” other fans raved. One fan even jokingly commented, “DAYACHELLA,” a portmanteau of Zendaya and Coachella. “I’m obsessed with this outfit!” another commenter emphasized, “Love all these details!” a fan wrote.
