Courteney Cox really went deep on her episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls and I have to say, it was refreshing and honest to see the actress open up.
While trekking through the Irish Highlands, Bear asked the Friends star what it’s like to reach a certain level of fame. “I feel lucky. I don’t feel burdened by it,” she said. “I mean, people can be pretty mean, though, now that there’s all this social media. The comments … if I ever want to feel really bad about myself, I just click on one of those … comment sections.”
She went on to explain the pressures women face in Hollywood, especially those who play such an iconic role. “I think there’s a pressure to maintain [your looks], not just because of fame, but just, you know, being a woman in this business. Getting older has not been … I don’t think it’s the easiest thing. I think I was trying to keep up with getting older, trying to chase that … it’s something you can’t keep up with.”
Then she got personal about plastic surgery and trying to fight off aging. “Sometimes you find yourself trying and then you look at a picture of yourself and you go, ‘Oh God, I look horrible.’ I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away. So that’s good because it’s not always been my best look.”
At the end of the clip, Cox shared her new motto to “just let it be.” Watch below:
