Every so often, I stumble upon a new beauty or makeup product that I’ve never heard of before. This time, I found the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, $5.00 and was instantly intrigued. I always knew that exfoliating your lips before applying lipstick or lip gloss was crucial, but I never knew there was a product out there designed specifically for this task.
The exfoliator was created to gently remove dry and dead skin from your lips leaving them feeling soft and supple. This lip exfoliator is infused with nourishing oils that are meant to smooth, buff and condition your lips for whatever type of lip product you will be using next. It comes in seven different scents including brown sugar, coffee, strawberry, cotton candy, popcorn, coconut and orange creamsicle. I wanted to find out for myself how will this product worked so was set on testing and reviewing to see what all the fuss was about.
Key Ingredients: Vitamin E & Sugar
Vitamin E is an extremely popular ingredient found in skincare and makeup products everywhere. So, there was no surprise that the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, $5.00 uses Vitamin E to moisturize and nourish your lips to create a soft and smooth pout. Sugar is the next unique ingredient found in this lip scrub. It is used to buff your lips and help removed the dead and dry skin that is sometimes hard to get rid of.
Key Feature: Removes Dry, Dead Skin
The great thing about the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, $5.00 is that it has one sole purpose. All of the ingredients work together to remove the dry and dead skin left on your lips. You might not visibly see these remnants, but they are there and need to be removed for you to successfully apply lipstick, lip oil or lip gloss.
How to Use:
Grab the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, $5.00 and head to the closest mirror. Gently rub the exfoliator all over your lips in a small, circular motion so the dead skin moves around. Take a cotton pad and wipe the residue off and you are left with smooth and soft lips that don’t feel rough or patchy. For best results, use a moisturizing lip balm after you are finished using this product.
My Honest Review:
I personally couldn’t wait to try the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, $5.00 because I love any type of exfoliator. Normally, I use a wet washcloth to exfoliate my lips which isn’t as gentle as I’d like it to be. I used the coffee scent and applied the product to dry lips and slowly moved it in a circular motion on my top and bottom lips. It didn’t feel rough on my lips, but I felt as if they were getting a deep clean. I then grabbed a cotton pad and gently wiped the residue and product off my lips. I could already see that my lips visibly looked and felt better. I applied my favorite lip balm then waited a few minutes before applying a nude lipstick which genuinely glided easily onto my lips. I was shocked!
The Bottom Line:
If you are an avid lipstick wearer, you are going to want to add the e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator, $5.00 to your makeup routine. It truly made a big difference in how easy it was to apply my lipstick. I’d recommend this product even if you just want to make sure your lips are looking smooth and healthy. It truly works and with a $5 price point, it can’t get much better than that!
