I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t really understand the hype around CBD. I know it’s one of the beauty industry’s buzziest ingredients right now, but I’ve yet to be converted.
That said, I was intrigued by Fekkai’s new scalp calming CBD line. I was initially interested because the products are really clean. They’re vegan, plus they’re made without any silicones, sulfates, phthalates, parabens or gluten. The fact that they also contain CBD? An added bonus, I guess.
Fekkai’s CBD line includes shampoo, conditioner, a scalp oil and my personal favorite, the hydrating hair mask. I’ve used it twice now on my kinky curly hair and I’m hooked. Not only does it soothe my scalp which is sometimes prone to dryness and itchiness, but it also leaves my curls soft and hydrated. Given that this product isn’t specially formulated for curly hair–which is normally the only thing I’ll use–I’m super impressed with the results!
Because my hair is curly and generally pretty dry, I was happy to see that the hydrating hair mask is really rich and creamy. As soon as I applied it to my hair, my strands instantly felt softer. I left the mask on for about 10 minutes while I washed up and shaved my legs and when I rinsed it out I couldn’t believe how nice my hair felt. My curls were defined and not dry or brittle at all.
The other benefit of this mask, of course, is the calming effect the CBD has on your scalp. I didn’t feel it initially, but over time it definitely had a soothing power. Even better, it’s kept my scalp from getting dry and itchy for days.
If you’re curious about the power of CBD, but you’re not ready to jump right into to ingesting it, I definitely recommend you start with Fekkai’s CBD line. I’ve used the shampoo and the hair mask and my very fickle hair definitely likes!
