Just thinking about all the stuff that was on my skin this summer makes me want to shower in the hottest water I can stand. Thick goopy sunscreen? Sweat? Car exhaust while outdoor dining? If ever there was a time for a skin detox, it’s now!
I’m a sucker for any body scrub, but Frank Body’s Charcoal Body Scrub is definitely at the top of my “love” list. First and foremost, I love how it smells. It’s made with a bit of caffeine, which means this body scrub smells like yummy coffee! I’m not even a coffee drinker, but I find the smell so invigorating yet soothing.
As for the scrub itself, I would say the texture is pretty gentle. I’ve used some sea salt scrubs and those crystals are huge and coarse. The Frank Body Charcoal Body Scrub isn’t like that. The texture is more like that of sand or table sugar, not too rough at all, but you still feel like it’s getting all the ickiness off.
The ingredients in this scrub are also top-notch. In addition to the caffeine which gives the scrub a yummy smell and helps your skin look more toned and firm, there’s also charcoal (duh!) to draw out impurities, dirt and oil and keep breakouts and acne at bay. For even more acne-fighting power, there’s tea tree oil, a really effective anti-inflammatory and grapeseed oil which is a wonderful mositurizer and skin softener for oily skin that’s prone to breakouts.
I’ve been using my scrub twice a week for about ten days and my skin both looks and feels so much smoother and healthier. There’s definitely the feeling of less “build-up” on my skin, plus the breakouts I used to get on the top of my back are basically gone. I’m hooked.
