Who needs a real Celine (I do! I do!) when you can fake it with one of these clever totes? My Other Bag is the latest eco-friendly line coming out of LA, where the ban on plastic bags in grocery stores has caused some designers to get really creative with reusable totes. The company, which has caught the attention of Katie Holmes, Jessica Biel and other celebs, was founded by Los Angelean Tara Martin, who was sick of putting produce in her designer purse. Dontcha hate when that happens?
The designer bag-inspired totes (there’s a Chanel chainstrap, Alexander McQueen clutch, Proenza Schouler PS1, Louis Vuitton Speedy, etc.) are similar to the popular
Thursday Friday bags, but more cartoonish. We love this trend (remember Anya Hindmarch’s
$5 I’m Not a Plastic Bag that sold for nearly $300 on eBay), and at $29.99 each, this version is a bargain. Especially compared to the price of
the real thing.
