“I ruined my favorite sweatpants!” Add that to the list of things I never thought I’d say. Up until five months ago, I only owned one pair of sweatpants. But alas, not only do I live in sweats now, but I have favorites. And yes, I ruined them a few weeks back when some oil splashed onto them while I was cooking. Despite my attempts with seltzer, baking soda and even a trip to the dry cleaners, nothing has worked to get those stains out.
So right after I purchased myself a replacement pair of sweats, I decided it was also probably time to start wearing an apron in the kitchen. Even though I cook regularly, I don’t consider myself a “serious” cook; I’m just a mom making food for her kid. But since March, I’ve been cooking way more than usual and I’ve stained my fair share of T-shirts and leggings as a result.
In an effort to save my clothes, I’ve been wearing a
Hedley & Bennett apron to cook for the last few days and let me tell you, what a difference an
apron makes! At first I felt a little silly wearing it because it feels so professional, but I quickly got over that because I haven’t ruined any of my clothes! I made biscuits and all the flour that usually ends up on my black leggings was on the
apron. When I fried crabcakes, all the oil splatter was on the apron, not my beloved white tee. Yes!

It’s worth noting that
Hedley & Bennett aprons are not your run of the mill aprons. They’re like, high fashion aprons–really! Not only are they hand made using the best quality materials, but they come in so many prints and patterns that you can match them to your outfit. That’s how many options there are! I also really love that the
aprons are machine washable and no, they don’t fall apart or start fraying after one wash.
If you’re spending lots of time in the kitchen these days, I can’t recommend an
apron highly enough. It’s the kitchen essential I didn’t even know I needed!
