How Often You Should Really Replace Your Shower Curtain Liner

February 5, 2016 by Isabel Jones

This might be hard to hear, but there really isn’t really a prescribed amount of time for washing or replacing your shower curtain and liner. BUT I NEED TO KNOW! Oh, you’ll know. It’s simple, really — once there’s an obvious buildup of mold or smell of mildew, it’s time for a change (or at least a wash!).

Unless your liner is torn, a good cold wash will probably get the job done. Stick your liner in the machine with a small amount of detergent and about 1/2 a cup of white vinegar. Add a few towels to the load to avoid damaging the liner in-spin.

DONE!

Does it look clean??

—> YES. Hooray, you’ve found a method that works!

—> NO. If a wash doesn’t get rid of all of the mold or residue, it really is time to buy a new liner.
