How To Get Denim Stains Off Suede Shoes

April 13, 2016 by Katelyn Holland

Suede shoes stress me out. I love the way they look, but they are so delicate. I’m constantly worrying about water and dirt stains. But the worst culprit is denim. Jeans always rub against my light suede shoes and leave blue stains. Desperate to salvage my light beige suede booties, I researched the best way to get denim stains out of suede.

The two most common fixes I found were to use either a rubber eraser or white vinegar.

First, I tried the eraser method but it seemed like this was making the spot more noticeable. :(

For large stains, I read that I should blot the area with a little bit of white vinegar and a clean white towel. I was nervous about using vinegar on my suede booties, so I decided to try something different. I mixed a little bit of Dawn dish soap with water. Then I applied the soapy mixture to the stain with a toothbrush. I blotted the spot dry with a clean towel.

Surprisingly, this simple solution worked great on the denim stains around the edges of my boots. Thanks to this easy hack, I’m no longer afraid to wear my suede shoes with jeans!
