How To Get Those White Dots Off Black Clothing That Can’t Be Lint Rolled

August 10, 2016 by Justine Schwartz

People who love black clothing (Hi! That’s me!) know that there is nothing worse in life than those tiny white pills that form on black clothing that just *won’t budge* when you try to lint roll them. (If you don’t immediately know what I’m talking about–this post isn’t for you.)

Pills, also known as bobbles, are the small white balls of fluff or fabric that form on the surface of knit clothing. They’re teeny tiny, but if you’re OCD about your black clothing looking sleek and not slubby, like I am, they drive you nuts. What’s the solution? Just like sweater pills, it’s to shave them off with a razor:

Simply run your razor along the surface–very lightly and delicately, you CAN rip the clothing if you’re not careful. You might have to repeat strokes on particularly sticky pills. It is the most effective way to get the pills off. The only problem is the razor and razor strip will be ruined after, so I wouldn’t suggest using fancy razors:

Voila! There you have it.
