Brown is the most popular eye color and just about half of the world’s population has brown eyes. Unfortunately, brown is a boring color (in my opinion) and it doesn’t really stand out like green or blue eyes. I have medium-colored brown eyes but I wish I had green eyes. Since I’m not really a fan of colored contacts considering they look so fake, I have to deal with my natural eye color and figure out ways to make my average brown eyes stand out in the crowd.
I’m a huge fan of eyeshadow so I use that as the main way to make my eyes pop a little more. Below are a few of my favorite tips for using eye makeup to make brown eyes more noticeable.
Tip #1: Since brown eyes are very versatile when it comes to eyeshadow, you can get away with trying way more colors than someone with blue or green eyes. Through the years, I’ve learned that jewel tones look best on brown eyes. Greens, blues and purples give brown eyes an extra oomph. Other great options are gold and copper shadows.
Tip #2: Just because you have brown eyes, don’t be afraid to use neutral shades. Taupes, browns and mauve-like shades really complement brown eyes. If you use a neutral shade, try using a colored eyeliner for a pop of color. You can also simply use neutral eyeliner instead of shadow.
Tip #3: White eyeliner will make any eye color pop. It instantly gives you an awake and fresh look. There are tons and tons of different ways to wear white liner. Some people like to put it on the inner corners of their eyes for a subtle pop, or you can line the upper and lower lash line. Experiment with colors, too. Metallic tones really bring out the brightness in white liner.
Try any of these tips and I guarantee your brown eyes will instantly look lightened and piercing.
