The Difference Between Dragging Through Your Day And Feeling Great On Your Feet? These Arch Support Insoles

For every negative thing you could say about selfie culture, at least one positive trend has emerged–the “I woke up like this,” no-makeup look. Whether it’s in response to heavy-handed, Kardashian-style contouring or simply the most flattering way to complement the many romantic, ’70s-inspired trends we’re seeing come back around, we’re all for this minimalist look.

Unfortunately, this is not an excuse to run through your house, excitedly tossing out every cosmetic you own. It actually does take some makeup to achieve that goddess-emerging-from-a-shower look. The goal is dewy, glowing, and youthful, but sophisticated enough to look polished at the office or when meeting friends for drinks.

With that in mind, here’s how Romy Soleimani, makeup artist extraordinaire and beauty director at large for Beauty.com, created a “fresh out of the shower” look at Milly using Arcona skincare products and Kevyn Aucoin cosmetics.

1. Since all amazing makeup looks start with clean, healthy skin, all the models got a boost from Arcona Eye Dew Plus, Arcona Triad Pads, Arcona Booster Defense Serum, Arcona Magic White Ice, Arcona Wine Oil, and Arcona Desert Mist. The goal, using these products, was to create a radiant and dewy complexion–picture how we all look after we’ve spent a few minutes in a steam bath.

2. Next, makeup artists prepped the skin with a very light layer of Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Tinted Balm and concealed pimples or slight flaws with Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer.

3. Believe it or not, there was actually some contouring involved in making this makeup-free look, but the key here was that artists were remarkably light-handed with their application. Using Kevyn Aucoin’s Creamy Glow Duo #4 in Candlelight/Sculpting, models’ cheekbones, the bridges of their noses, and right above their eyebrows were highlighted while the sides of their noses, the area hollow area beneath cheekbones, and the tops of their foreheads were contoured so that they receded into the background.

4. Eyebrows continue to be a focal point on the face this spring/summer, but they aren’t as harsh as they’ve been in past seasons. Models’ natural brows were sculpted using Kevyn Aucoin Gel Brow Pencil.

5. Finally, a bit of Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Lip Balm was used to subtly shade and define the lips.

Voila! No mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush or  dark lipstick needed. The only question now is, are you brave enough to rock this look on the street? Given the breathtaking results, I’m going to go out on a limb and predict this will be very popular in upcoming months.
