When we first saw one of our favorite bloggers,
Blair of Atlantic-Pacific, rocking a thick metallic-coated cable knit on her blog, we thought she looked awesome and couldn’t wait to mimic the trend for the holidays. As we tried to play copy-cat, however, we found one tiny problem–metallic sweaters are kind of… uncomfortable.
One of the things we value most dearly about sweater weather is that sweaters are comfy, cozy, and soft–if you do them right, it’s almost like wearing a blanket around all day. And although metallic sweaters look killer, we can attest that they’re anything but cozy. The metallic coating makes them considerably heavier than your average winter wear, and hardens them so they’re stiff. Still, in rich golds, silvers, and pewters, they look amazing with winter’s jewel tone, and practically scream luxe.
After much debate, we think we’re willing to suffer for fashion (and wear a really comfy undershirt) to pull this trend off. How about you?
