11 Things No Girl Should Wear After She Graduates From College

March 14, 2014 by Sara Alderman

Ask anyone, my friends, family and co-workers, and they’ll tell you how much I’m freaking out about being almost one year out of college. Yes, I do feel old, and I know I’m not, but it’s just how I feel. So I started to look back on everything that’s changed since I got my diploma and realized it’s not much. Yes, I did get a job and move to New York City, but I’m the same person I was 10 months ago. I still laugh at things I shouldn’t, like awkward first kisses, and get upset over hearing my childhood crush slept with Lindsay Lohan (Come ON Justin, I thought you were better than that).

That being said, one thing that HAS changed about me is my wardrobe. Sure, in college I definitely cared about what I wore, but being in that little bubble of campus, certain things were acceptable that just would NOT be in the real world. For example, you and your friends had no problem wearing all sheer shirts to the bar with your bras or bandeaus exposed, right? Well, think about it. Would you wear that completely see through top out now in New York City or D.C.? Yeah, probably not.

Once you get that diploma you have to start making (somewhat) better choices. You’re an adult now! And the easiest place to first start making changes is your wardrobe…because there are some pretty obvious pieces that would only be okay for mixers and frat parties.
