It's red carpet season, so in this week's Name That Designer, we thought we'd give you a little background info on one of the popular design houses that celebrities flock to for their drop-dead gorgeous gowns.
Here's how it works: We'll give you a few fun facts about the designer and our favorite product picks, and then we'll leave it to you to guess the brand name. If it's too tough, just click on one of the images below and the designer's name will be revealed. If you think you know the answer, take the poll and then click on an image to see if you got the name right.
This week's designer worked under another label for most of her life, and did not open her own design house until she was 50 years old! Although France was not her native country, she is considered a French designer because she showed in Paris and her house was once an official haute couture member. (Haute couture is a term protected and defined by French law. Each year, a committee draws up a list of names based on certain criteria, and only those design houses are considered official couture members. This week's designer's house was a member at one time but has not been in recent years.)
Although she passed away in 1970, the house has kept up her elegant aesthetic making the designs very popular red carpet picks. Marion Cotillard and Ellen Pompeo are a couple of the big names that wore gowns carrying her name this award show season.
Here are some of our favorite picks that are not made-to-measure, unfortunately, but still fabulous anyway:
