Salt lamps, ever heard of them? I didn’t up until a few weeks ago when a friend told me she bought one. These lamps are basically large chunks of pure Himalayan salt rock placed over a tiny bulb. The combo of the two emits an orange light. At first I thought this was just a grown-up version of a lava lamp (you know, groovy lighting and all). Turns out, salt lamps actually have wellness benefits like cleaning air, improving mood and reducing allergies.
After being hypnotized by the orange light (it’s soooo entrancing) I went ahead and bought one of my own. Okay, so my dream of having a lava lamp again wasn’t the only reason I got a salt lamp. My tiny NYC apartment needed some air quality control ASAP. I’m happy to report that this really works! Not to mention, it is also a conversation starter. Intrigued?
