Designer lines have been popping up in all sorts of decidedly un-designerlike places, which is great news for the majority of us, who can’t quite afford designer price tags. The list is getting a little ludicrous:
Mark Eisen & Wal-Mart
Stella, Karl Lagerfeld, etc. & H&M
Target & their Go International designers
Vera Wang & Kohl’s…Kate Moss & TopShop, Bono & Edun & his RED line at but it’s not stopping there.
Scarlett Johansson often wears Roland Mouret on the red carpet.

Roland Mouret, couture designer to the stars, is collaborating with good old to create a 10 dress collection that will be available on November 7. It doesn’t get much better than that. Oh wait, it does. Roland Mouret designs for a woman’s body, hence slim yet curvaceous Scarlett Johansson dons his gowns at major awards shows. And even better, since 50% of all proceeds of the line will be contributed to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, you’ll feel as good as you look. But all this designer dilution has us wondering where exactly “the gap” is. How do the elitist fashionistas separate themselves when their designer du jour is showing at the local discount department store? Perhaps it’s all a scheme to up the cred of couture. But really, can someone tell us when Zac Posen’s Old Navy collection launches?!
