Don’t forget about the $120 shipping charge.
Since Target.com crashed early in the morning of the Missoni for Target launch, eBay became the next best bet. On the day of the release, eBay listed more than 2,000 Missoni for Target items, and now, two days later, that number has skyrocketed to nearly 40,000. To put that in perspective, there are 26,224 results for “Chanel,” 11,422 results for “Kate Spade,” and 9,284 results for “Louis Vuitton.” Needless to say, this is massive.
The highest priced item we could find was this Missoni for Target Bike (above), which has a “Get It Now” price of $1,200—plus a $120 shipping & handling fee. Again, as a frame of reference, the Kate Spade bike retails for $1,100, and was never originally sold at Target. There’s just something unsettling about a Target line being sold for more money than full-priced designer items…
And while some of the eBay prices are actually absurd, there are a whole bunch of under-$100 picks (including maxi dresses, cardigans, and housewares) that are up for auction soon.
